In my mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren in which you share the books you added to your collection in the past week.
Hi friends! I made the mistake of letting myself go into the MG section of the library this week, but was able to cut myself off after only three books. Here’s the stack (clicky for GoodReads):
Library
The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf – Moly Harper: I finished this first book in this series, How to Flirt With a Naked Werewolf, about a week or so ago and had so much fun, I ran out to get the second.
I’ve Got Your Number – Sophie Kinsella: I haven’t read any Sophie Kinsella before, but this one sounds cute and has gotten good reviews from bloggers I heart like Angie (Angieville) and Holly (Book Harbinger). Since I’ve recently jumped on the chick-lit train, I decided to check it out!
Girl in Blue – Ann Rinaldi: On Twitter, Tara (Hobbitsies) reminded me of the existence of Ann Rinaldi. She was one of my favorite authors in middle school when I was on this massive historical fiction kick, and somehow I forgot about her! I realized my library has a sizable stack of her books, including Girl in Blue, which involves a girl dressing as a boy to fight in the civil war, and we all know how I feel about that sort of thing!
Castle in the Air – Diana Wynne Jones: The first companion book to Howl’s Moving Castle, I had to have it immediately after finishing the former and loving it so much.
This Dark Endeavor – Kenneth Oppel: I’ve wanted to read this one since it came out, and when my eyes happened to glance over it on the shelf, I couldn’t stop myself from grabbing it (it was at the point I made myself exit the stacks)…
Audiobook
Black Heart – Holly Black: I listened to White Cat not too long ago, and dug it so much I picked up Red Glove before I was through. I’ll be starting that one today! I put myself on the wait list for Black Heart, and was second…guess whoever was in front of me failed to meet the ‘you have three days to check this book out’ requirement, and I got Black Heart on Friday!
ARC For Review:
Blackwood – Gwenda Bond: A contemp that brings in the mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke—sounds potentially awesome to me! Thanks to Strange Chemistry and NetGalley.
Thieftaker – D.B. Jackson: Historical fantasy set during the revolutionary war? Yes please! Thanks to Tor Books and NetGalley, I am SO excited for this one.
Shadowfell – Juliet Marillier: It haven been literally weeks since I’d requested this one, I’d pretty much given up hope and happily resigned myself to reading this one when it comes out. But no, Random House came through for me, and I thank them and Edelweiss very much for this ARC!

Thanks for stopping by! What did you get in your mailbox this week?
If you are a fan of chick lit you will love I've Got Your Number. I'm a big Kinsella fan (although not of her real alter ego Madeleine Wickham randomly). I hope you enjoy all your goodies!
ReplyDeleteThe Week at Book Brats!
OOOO Shadowfell looks really good and Black Heart! I hope you enjoy everything!

So say we all!
Oh good gracious I can't go down your list and comment on all the awesome so I'll pick out a few:
ReplyDeleteI want to read the Oppel book something fierce. I shall live it through you until I get caught up a bit. (I'm cohosting a Contemporary Month in June and am trying to read thru a ton of those.)
I've seen the Kinsella name around but have never read any of her stuff. I'm intrigued!
Okay Blackwood - I grabbed this one too because HELLO the Lost Colony at Roanoke is pretty much almost in my backyard. I'm very near the coast of NC so I am always interested in books set in NC, especially ones THIS CLOSE. I'll be reading this one as well!
Great stuff, gal!
Haven't heard of Thieftaker before but it looks amazing!

Hope you enjoy reading Castle in the Air! You should have grabbed House of Many Ways while you were in the MG section so you can read them together. :P And I have a galley of Shadowfell too, really looking forward to reading that.
ReplyDeleteI've Got Your Number? *squee* And Shadowfell? Congrats! I wish I hadn't finished it so quickly. *sobs* I was worried after not loving her first YA series but it was excellent! I'm very excited for the next book.

Hi there Heidi, aren't libraries just awesome? I love mine here in Singapore as well, it's always wonderful to lose myself just looking at the new acquisitions in the shelves. I have quite a few Diana Wynne Jones in my own bookshelves (I've been collecting her titles), while I have Howl's Moving Castle, I don't have this one, so I am pretty jealous of your find. Ann Rinaldi is also another favorite! I have a few of her titles here at home, and I think I borrowed a few as well for our Girl Power theme. Enjoy your new reads!

I love visiting my library and would go weekly if I could, but I bring home too many books and then I get all backed up with my reading que! :) I love Sophie Kinsella's books and you should definitely check out the first two shop-a-holic books (after the first few I wasn't interested anymore). "Twenties Girl" is also pretty cute and I loved "Can You Keep a Secret" and "The Undomestic Goddess". Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful haul! Here's mine

ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE Sphie Kinsella, and while I wasn't too big on her latest book (amongst her worst I think, aside from Twenties Girl, that book was just ugh)...it was still a fun ride.
ReplyDeleteThe Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf <--one of the funniest titles I've seen
I guess it's a must have for Team Jacob. =)
Happy reading,
