In My Mailbox (4)
In my mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren in which you share the books you added to your collection in the past week.
AudiobooksThe Help - Kathryn StockettShiver - Maggie Stiefvater
I'm over halfway through Shiver, and I'm really enjoying it as an audiobook, I especially like the narrator for Grace, Jenna Lamia, who is also one of the narrators for The Help! I've heard so many good things about The Help, I figured it was finally time to pick it up, especially with the DVD looming.
Library BooksThere Is No Dog - Meg RosoffFracture - Megan Miranda
Meg Rosoff's How I Live Now has been on my TBR for ages, but somehow There Is No Dog sneaks in first being newer and shinier (though I do like the UK cover better). Fracture was one of my most anticipated releases of January, and I'm excited to have my hands on it after reading so many rave reviews.
NetGalley BooksOrdinary Magic - Caitlen Rubino-BradwayStarters - Lissa Price
Ordinary Magic seemed like a promisingly cute MG title about a girl living in a world of magic while she herself doesn't have any (or in Harry Potter terms, a squib). Starters seems kind of like Freaky Friday meets Dollhouse, and who wouldn't sign up for that? Plus the cover is totally creepy in a Children of the Corn kinda way.
That's it for me this week, what did you get in your mailbox? It's Super Bowl Sunday today, and I'm in NY and hosting a party, so while I may not have time to check out many blogs today, I promise I will tomorrow!
LOVE the Starters cover!

I know, right? I love the circuitry in the back and the one bright blue eye.
DeleteShiver was great and Starters looks awesome!

Agreed! I just finished The Scorpio Races, and I don't think Shiver can possibly live up to it for me, but I'm still really enjoying it. I kind of have a thing for wolves.
DeleteI've seen a lot of Starters around ! These books all have these oddly, dark and distant covers. Sure to be some good readin' ! I never noticed how creepy the cover of Fracture is . . .
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading !
I LOVE the Fracture cover! It is totally eerie and makes me cold just looking at it.
DeleteI can't wait to read Fracture! :) Looks like a really good book. And the cover of Starters is rather creepy.. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I'm really excited for both.
DeleteStarters is a creepy cover, eh?!?! Great haul!

Totally! What is it about pale children that is just so terrifying?
DeleteFracture is SO GOOD :) enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've heard nothing but good things, so I'm hoping it'll live up to the hype.
DeleteI LOVE Jenna Lamia as a narrator. She's fabulous. If you are looking for another great book she narrates, definitely check out Tell Me A Secret by Holly Cupala.
ReplyDeleteAND OMG YAY STARTERS, I agree about the Children Of The Corn cover vibe.
Happy reading :-D
Thanks for the Tell Me a Secret tip, April! I tend to gravitate towards certain narrators, so I'd love to check it out. Even though every time I read Holly Cupala's name I think 'holy crapola!' which makes me giggle like an 11 year old.
DeleteI watched The Help just that other day and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI really need to read the book soon!
Enjoy your books :)

Thanks! I have a hard time reading a book after I've seen the movie, so I'm going to put off watching till I have time to listen to it. Hope you can still enjoy the book though!
DeleteI still need to read the help. Enjoy all of your books.
ReplyDeleteStarters looks so great :) Enjoy all your books.
