In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox banner by The Story Siren
In my mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren in which you share the books you added to your collection in the past week.
This week I went a little library crazy thanks to Chachic and her Queen's Thief Week:

Book cover of The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner

Book cover of The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner

Book cover of The King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner

Book cover of A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner

I picked up all of Megan Whalen Turner's Queen's Thief series.

Along with:
Magic Bites - Ilona Andrews
Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins...it was on so many Top 10 Audiobook suggestion lists, I had to go this route!
Tempest - Julie Cross
Where She Went - Gayle Forman...Forman is presenting at a library conference I'm attending in two weeks, so excited!
Austenland - Shannon Hale...had to read it before the new one comes out!

Book cover of Where She Went by Gayle Forman

Book cover of Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Book cover of Austenland by Shannon Hale

Book cover of Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews

Book cover of Tempest by Julie Cross
I also picked up two new galleys from NetGalley:

Book cover of Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale Book cover of Shadows on the Moon by Zoe Marriot

Midnight in Austenland - Shannon Hale...so excited for this after finishing Austenland!
Shadows on the Moon - Zoë Marriot...a Japanese Cinderella retelling that I've been highly anticipating.

    1. I started listening to Anna yesterday. The narrator is kinda annoying me, but I only had about 15 minutes to listen, so I'm hoping she'll get better. That or I'll have to switch to the book.

  2. I do hope you like the MWT books! The Thief is slightly different in feel, and reads rather younger, than the others...so if it doesn't quite do it for you, do keep going!

    1. I loved The Thief, but I'm halfway through Queen of Attolia and am loving that even more! It does seem to grow up quite a bit, to the point that I would hesitate to even label it 'YA' anymore (though that may just be in my head since we don't have an age for Eugenides which I LOVE).

    2. I'm so glad you're loving them! Did you see the comment MWT left at one of Chachic's post about the ages, and how she deliberatly chose not to make it clear?

    3. Yes! I loved that she purposely left things up to the readers. Such a great philosophy.

    1. Thanks! You should check out The Queen's Thief series, and if you ever need more convincing, check out the posts from Chachic's Queen's Thief Week. There were amazing guest posts all around, you just have to be wary of spoilers. =)

  6. Tempest was good and of course Anna is AMAzing. I *still* haven't read If I Stay though all I've heard is good things. Hopefully I'll get around to it eventually :P

    1. Yeah...If I Stay is one of those books you don't really get 'in the mood' for. It's really heavy, though it is absolutely wonderful. I'm not sure I'd have gotten to it if I weren't prompted by the opportunity to meet Gayle Forman.

  11. I sampled Anna as an audiobook and so was not impressed with the narrator - I found her whiney. I LOVED the book, though, when I read it!

    Enjoy and happy reading!

  12. Yay, you were able to grab all the Queen's Thief books! I hope you love The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia, those are my favorites in the series. Thanks for dropping by to read the posts for Queen's Thief Week and leave comments even when you haven't finished reading all the books. Most of the posts have been spoiler-free anyway (if you gotten to that part with the romance, you know how hard it is to avoid spoilers for that!)

I hope you like Magic Bites too. The Kate Daniels series is my favorite urban fantasy series.

  13. Hi there! :)

I'm a HUGE fan of Stephanie Perkins's books, and Anna and the French Kiss is DEFINITELY a favorite. Though, I'm really curious about that audiobook. It'd probably be yummy to hear Etienne St. Clair's voice;)

The emotion in Tempest really stayed with me and that's even more true for Where She Went.

    Have an amazing reading week!
