Tour de Tetons

In honor of Hallowed releasing, and today's review of Unearthly, I thought that I would share some of my personal photos of the Jackson Hole area with ya'll.  These were all taken two summers ago, before I had even heard of Unearthly, so sorry I didn't make more pointed stops this trip!

The Grand Tetons!

This is the bf and I at the arch where Clara's hair first Glories out.

Jenny Lake - where Clara goes to practice flying.

View of Jackson from Snow King - the smaller resort
where Christian practices skiing after school.

    1. They are. Elk shed them every year, so they're collected/found, not taken from animals who have been killed.

  2. These are great! Thanks for sharing, Heidi. It's always nice to see actual pictures of the place where a certain book is set to give me a better idea of how everything looks like.

    1. Thanks, Chachic! I always think it's fun to see where books take place as well. Doesn't happen often!

  3. Cool! Jenny Lake looks absolutely gorgeous. You know, I've been to Jackson Hole before as a kid but I can't remember anything about it. It's rare for me to have actually been to the setting of a book, so I love when that happens. Have you ever read Harmonic Feedback by Tara Kelly? I was thrilled when I first started reading and found out the characters live in Bellingham, WA a town I visit once a year and know well. :)

    1. I know, isn't it fun? It's been really surreal to me since moving to New York, when so many books/movies are set in NYC. I'm still totally fascinated by the whole thing. I was extremely excited about Unearthly, because it's the first book I've ever read that takes place in Wyoming (I grew up there).

I have not read Harmonic Feedback, OR been to Bellingham, but strangely enough I have a lot of friends there! For some reason a few people from high school ended up there, and since I went to college in the Seattle area, a lot of college friends did too.

  4. Wow, how cool is this? You really got some pictures that relate quite a bit to the book! It's hilarious that you took these before you'd read either one. Thanks for posting; it's really interesting to be able to see these places in photos.

    1. Thanks, Catie! Hehe, yeah, if I'd known about the books, I could have gotten a lot more photos. Heck, I've slept in that high school gym and skied at the resort and what not. We didn't got to Jackson often growing up, because honestly there's a lot of places just as good that are closer and MUCH cheaper because they aren't tourist traps, but it is a pretty cool town.

  5. I wish I'd seen this while I was reading Unearthly and Hallowed! The place looks pretty amazing! These pictures made me want to read U & H all over again just so this time I could've the actual place in mind! Love this post, Heidi! :)

  7. Darn, the Blogger comments weren't working in Firefox so I changed over to Chrome to copy and paste and it was the wrong comment:( (for Chachic, which is how I came over here) *sigh* I'll start again. I love these pictures! I've been through that area a bunch of times in the past few years. Jenny Lake is definitely a favorite of mine:) And I've stood in that exact spot under the arch. It reminds me of this time I was walking around Trinity College in Dublin with a bunch of my friends and my best friend said, totally seriously, "Imagine all the people who've walked amongst these cobblestones" and we all about died laughing. (and still do) But she's right. It is so weird to think about how many people have stood on the exact same spot on Earth throughout history.

    1. Thanks, Flan! I wish I had had more topical pictures, but we spent the bulk of that trip in Yellowstone. Jenny Lake is wonderful! And yes, your friend may be laughable, but it's so true! I know I can still get all weirded out about it on the east coast, or Europe especially where things are so much older than anything we have out west.
